                          DECLARATION OF PRINCIPLES

Humankind has not woven the web of life. We are but one thread within it. Every action upon our little string resonates outward to affect the rest of the web, for good or for ill. Like a pebble on the water, the ripples go forth and grow in size as they gather strength. So can an act of kindness change someone. That act of kindness then passes forward, growing in size, spreading to all in its path.

All living creatures deserve this kindness. There are many lives, human and otherwise, who have been forgotten. Perhaps they have come to believe that this kindness has passed them by and will not come again.

We, the founding members of the Maryland Defenders, recognize that our time on this Earth is short. Our lives slip away, moment by moment, but there is still time to seize that one last fragile moment, to choose something better, to make a difference. That is exactly what we have chosen to do.

Welcome to The Maryland Defenders offical website. We are an alliance of heroes, doing our part to help make the world a better place for all living creatures.Our primary focus is on animal rights, promoting responsible pet ownership, and conservation of the environment. We do this by being active in our community - volunteering, fund raising, educating.

The Maryland Defenders was began by members of The Skiffytown League of Heroes, a not-for-profit organization. Skiffytown is spread across the United States with regional hero affiliations active within their own communities.
